Who is Barack Obama? Part 1
October 6th 2009 04:13
I was watching the news earlier today and again they played a video clip of President Obama saying something like, “If you want to know what kind of person I am, look at the people I surround myself with”. That is exactly what I want to do, I plan on doing some research on the people in Obama’s political circle, and then I will write about what I find here. So, first up is Obama’s White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
First, here is an article that says that Rahm lived in a house owed by Rep. Rosa De Lauro (D-Conn.) rent free for years and failed to disclose this gift like he was supposed to. This may not seem like a big deal, but just so you know, Rahm’s net worth is somewhere between something like 5 million and 13 million dollars, so why would he need to live in this house rent free?
Next, here is an article that talks about his time working for Freddie Mac. Rahm just happened to be on the board of directors at Freddie Mac during the time when Freddie was cooking its books. Now, I am not saying the Rahm Emanuel had anything to do with Freddie Mac lying about its earnings, but it makes me wonder.
Here is one last article that really makes me wonder how people like this get into positions of advising the highest political leaders, like the president. In this article, it mentions Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, who is the brother of the great and powerful Rahm Emanuel. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is a key health care advisor to Obama, and he believes that the reason for the high cost of health care is due to doctors taking the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, and says they use it as “an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of cost or effects on others.” First I have to say that if I get sick, I would like it if my doctor did everything he could to save my life. The bad thing about this is that this Dr. Emanuel is an advisor on health care to Obama, and it begs the question, “how did he get there?” If I were to venture a guess, I would have to say that his brother Rahm was influential in getting his brother the doctor to be a key advisor to Barack Obama.
Now, this is the first person I have researched so far, and I hope there is more to come, but I have to say that if Rahm Emanuel tells me anything about what kind of person President Obama is, I already don’t like what I see.
